Crazy

“For if we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you”  (The Apostle, Paul 2 Corinthians 5:13)

“When Jesus relatives heard of this they set out to seize him,  for they said, “He is out of his mind.” (Mark 3:20-21)

The Corinthians thought Paul was unhinged.  Jesus’ relatives thought he was disturbed and possibly mad.   Experts believe you have a 1 in 5 chance of being religiously delusional if you live Germany or Austria but only a six percent chance of becoming spiritually brainsick if you hail from Pakistan or Japan.

If you are an American, the best possibility for religious sanity is Minnesota followed by Maine and Massachusetts.  I’m from the 3rd city, aka Grand Island, Nebraska which is ranked 23rd.  I now live in Tennessee with a mental health ranking of 45.

When Pilate asked Jesus, “Where are you from?”  Pilate was asking, “Jesus, can you pass the basic smell test?”    Was Jesus credible or was He mad?

Instead of reviewing the myriad of Old Testament prophecies, Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36).  Jesus isn’t concerned about appearing foolish or soft headed.   Jesus cuts to the chase,  “Pilate, my kingdom is no immediate threat to your kingdom.”

Jesus to Pilate: My 401K account is located in a different zip than yours.

Like Jesus, we have an old soul. The prophet Micah refers to Jesus whose origin is from old, from ancient times.”  Jesus (and all of His followers) have the same destiny, “The reason we were born to share the good news about the kingdom of God” (John 18:37) even though the world thinks its crazy foolishness (cf. I Cor 1-2).

Pilate’s question is very similar to the scribes and Pharisees when they asked, “Is this not Jesus whose father and mother we know?” The same could be said of us because with our new birth, we have come down from heaven to do the Father’s will.  Our family is now God’s family.  Mary is our Mother, Jesus our brother and God is our Father . ”

Jesus agrees with the saying,  “A prophet is not welcome in His home town.”

Timothy was the luckiest man in the world.

Timothy had a godly mother and grandmother.  While his dad wasn’t a believer, his spiritual father was the Apostle Paul.

Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God
for the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
to Timothy, my dear child:
grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father
and Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Apostle Paul was responsible for beginning Spiritual Fatherhood.

Your zip code may increase the likelihood of developing a case of religious crazies.  The only cure is to reconnect with the original Apostles.   Unfortunately, there is no safe zip code when you find yourself  living in the wrong era.

During third century, most of the Church’s bishops were on the wrong side of Orthodoxy.    Arius was a Christian Bishop who obtained a massive following among both the clergy and the people.  You ask, “How did He do this?”  He wrote songs.  Perhaps he used today’s Psalm as a text:

Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all you lands.
Sing to the LORD; bless his name.

Because of Arius and his music, he led a generation astray.

Today, music is still the universal language.  Add to it digital print and video.  Boys think they are girls.  Girls wanted to marry girls.  Babies are aborted up and til then last day of a mother’s pregnancy.

The world has an end and so do we.

“Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on earthly things.  But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.” (Phil 3:20)
