All of Us Want a Home

All of us want a home.  God made us with that sense of needing to belonging to a family.  Sometimes our lives take us away from our families-our military who are fighting all over the world, missionaries who go to foreign countries or job transfers that take us away from family.  We miss our roots and always enjoy going home.

Paul tells us in Ephesians that “we are no longer strangers and sojourners but we are fellow citizens of the holy one, part of the family of God.” Our new family is solid.  We have a good foundation-the apostles, prophets, and Jesus Christ.  Our family is always growing and God sees us as sacred in Him.

Remember Thomas after the resurrection telling everyone that unless he put his finger into the nail marks of Jesus we would not believe.  And then Jesus appeared.  He told Thomas to put his finger into the wounds.  See it with your eyes.  Believe.  Thomas believed.  Jesus said, “You believe because you have seen me, blessed are those who have not seen me and yet believe.”

Our spiritual home includes a large family.  We are knit together as one because we believe Jesus died, was buried and rose again.  We are family.
