We all learned the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who were thrown into the fiery furnace because they would not bow down to the idol when the music was played.
Did you know-that when the king told them that if they didn’t bow down when the music played, he would throw them into the fiery furnace, King Nebuchadnezzar mocks them and asks if God will deliver them from that? They were not intimidated. They said that God can save us from the furnace and they were not afraid of the king BUT even if God doesn’t save us we still will not serve the idol.
Did you know-that King Nebuchadnezzar becomes so angry he orders the furnace to be heated seven times hotter and he ordered them to be thrown into the fire. King Nebuchadnezzar looks into the furnace. What did he expect to see? If you throw something into the fire it burns up. Why would he look?
Did you know-When the king looks into the fire he sees four men and the fourth man looks like the Son of God. How did he know what the Son of God looked like?
King Nebuchadnezzar proclaims Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who God sent his angel to deliver them because they trusted in God. They disobeyed a royal command to serve their own God.
Encounters with God can even change a king’s heart. Do we have the faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to believe God when we are looking to the depths of a fiery furnace? God gave them faith at the time they needed it and He will provide faith for us when we need it.
