Jesus told his disciples, Be merciful just as your Father is merciful. (Luke 6) He included stop judging, stop condemning, forgive and give. These are humanly difficult tasks to do without the help of God the Father in our lives.
In Daniel 7, we read the prayer, Lord, great and awesome God, you who keep your merciful covenant to those who love you. God shows us mercy every day. We pray like David in Psalm 78, Lord do not deal with us according to our sins but show us mercy.
To show mercy to others takes a supernatural encounter with God, but to be merciful goes deeper. As Jesus told us, forgive and them mercy comes. Stop judging and then you can show mercy. Stop condemning and then your life will exude mercy. To be merciful one must know how to give. It is in giving that we can receive mercy and give mercy.
