Jesus’ Throne

Did you hear about the msn who walked into his jail cell asking, “OK, which one of you guys is Jesus?

Chip Gaines (HGTV’s Fixer Upper) tells the story where spent the day in jail because of unpaid parking tickets. While his wife, Johanna was imagining the worst, Chip was making friends. Upon His release he hugged his expecting wife, guess who I spent the day? Remember Jim? God is doing great things in his life.

Dostoyevsky wrote, “The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by observing its prisoners.” He said that after serving time.

Moses, in the Ten Commandments, forbids us to “stand by idly when your neighbor’s life is at stake.” As many of asked before, “who exactly is my neighbor?” Jesus tells it’s the forgotten, the outsider and the helpless.

Interestingly, Jesus didn’t mention widows and orphans. Perhaps Jesus believes the family bond creates a natural desire to take care of one’s own.

The true measure of faith is to venture into the devil’s domain .
Flannery O’Connor believed “the action of grace occurred in territory largely held by the devil.”

Jesus sits on His glorious throne in heaven. He also sits in the prison cell, the hospital bed, and the pew in His own Church.
