When have you ever, in total abandonment to God, done something uncharacteristic for you? To some people that is easy to do, but to me my ‘self-talk’ gets in the way. “What will people think? Is God really telling me to do this? This seems stupid and you shouldn’t even think about doing this.”
David knew how to worship God. He was the king and it didn’t matter. God mattered. David brings the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem and it made him so happy. He began to dance and sing in total abandonment to God. He offered sacrifices to God and then he blessed the people. He gave to every family a loaf of bread, a cut of meat, and a raisin cake.
The people saw how God acts through the worship of their king. They saw true worship demonstrated and how to offer sacrifices to God. They also saw a demonstration of how to give out of your abundance with the gifts of food each one received.
Sometimes we have to break out of our comfort zone and just trust that God’s desire for our worship is grater that how we feel. Total trust in God is great peace.
