As we enter into the Advent season, and we remember the familiar story of May and how the angel came to her and told her that she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus. The angel said she had found favor with God to be chosen and she agreed to the task given to her by God. We sing the carols and smile. We have a warm feeling about Christmas.
Paul told the Ephesian believers, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing.” As Jesus was chosen before the foundation of the world to be holy, we were in love adopted into the family through Jesus Christ. We were chosen for the praise and glory of God. He wants us to be part of his family.
So as we read the Christmas story of Jesus with Mary and Joseph, we can say we are part of the story too. We are adopted into this family by God through Jesus Christ. This is one big family that we are a part of. The Christmas story is also our family story. We are blessed because we have been adopted.
