Justified by Faith

The theme in the scripture readings today is with the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption .   There is the Old Testament verses the New Testament, Jew verses Gentile, and Law verses Grace.  Jesus said, “I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Paul explained in Romans 3 that the Law testified of the righteousness of God.  All have sinned and come short of God’s righteousness.  The Law provided forgiveness through the sacrificing of a perfect lamb for their sins and the picture was that one day God would send his Son, the truly perfect lamb, who would die for the sins of all of mankind both Jew and Gentile and his resurrection would break the bonds that the Law put on people because now we have redemption through faith by His shed blood.

Paul said this is not something we boast about that now a person is justified by faith apart from doing the works of the Law.  Salvation was given for both the Jews and the Gentiles.  He will justify the Jews on the basis of faith and the Gentiles through faith but it is only through Jesus Christ that anyone can experience redemption by faith.
