Jesus said to Matthew “Follow Me.” He says to us “Follow Me.” Paul tells the Ephesians that all of us who follow Jesus are part of the Body of Christ.
We know that everyone comes with various shapes, sizes, color, ethnicity, the list is endless and that is what the Body of Christ looks like. Paul says that these differences are what allows for Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers in the church and they have the single focus to build up the Body of Christ until we all attain the unity of the faith and we understand and have spiritual knowledge that is bringing us to maturity.
The Body of Christ must also strive to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. “We are One body, one Spirit, called to one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all through all and in all.”
If we realize that we are all ONE, divisions seem petty and resolve themselves without destroying the body of Christ. Let us be careful to not destroy each other but always keep in front of us that we are all part of the Body of Christ. We are ONE and God wants us to build up the body of Christ and to strengthen the bonds that hold us together.
