and to my slave, Do this, and he does it.” The Centurion (Luke 7:1-10)
Are those words eerily similar to Jesus’ prayer life? When Jesus meets up the hoards of demons and commands them to “Go” and they do just that (Matthew 8:28-34). Jesus asks His disciples to “Come” and follow me. They leave family, friends and their business (Matthew 4:19). To the expert in the law, Jesus said, love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.. “Do this and you will live.”

Most of my prayer life is located in the dry bones of I Timothy 2. Then are times when God shows up and all I need to say are “Go!” “Come!” “Do This and you will live.”
‘The first task in life is this: prayer.’ But not the prayer of words, like a parrot; but the prayer of the heart: gazing on the Lord, hearing the Lord, asking the Lord,” Pope Francis
